The Ferme Caussenarde d’Autrefois is much more than just a tourist attraction. It is an intergenerational experience to be shared with family, as a couple or in a group. Children can have fun alongside the adults by taking part in a treasure hunt and playing traditional games such as sack races, tug-of-war and skittles. The Moulin de la Borie, dating from the 17th century, was restored in 2017. Today, in partnership with local farmers and bakers from the “Farine du Méjean” association, it produces “Farines du Méjean”. This micro-supply chain project promotes local cereals, thereby preserving the authenticity of the region. Visiting this iconic mill on the Causse Méjean in Lozère is a unique experience. The Aven Armand opens the doors to another spectacular and magical underground world. This cave is famous for housing the largest known stalagmite, an imposing structure 30 metres high that took thousands of years to form. For thrill-seekers, embark on a dizzying adventure, 80 metres above the ground, with your feet dangling in the void… Thrills will course through your body during this sensational descent, suspended by a rope, into the mysterious recesses of the Aven Armand.

You can set off on a one-hour walk through the Chaos du Vieux Nîmes to explore a ‘forest’ of dolomite rocks with astonishing shapes. This walk not only offers an impressive natural spectacle, but also an opportunity to discover the local flora and fauna, as well as a panoramic view of the region.

Przewalski’s horses, majestic creatures found in the heart of the Causse Méjean, are a truly unique species. They bear a striking resemblance to the horses depicted in ancient cave paintings. Threatened with extinction, Przewalski’s horses have found a precious refuge at the heart of a 400-hectare protected reserve, where the TAKH organisation is working tirelessly to conserve them and is striving to reintroduce them to the vast steppes of Central Asia.

Discover the Corniches du Méjean, a spectacular hiking trail nestled amongst the cliffs of the Jonte and the Tarn. The Fédou cheese dairy is a real gem tucked away in the picturesque village of Hyelzas, on the majestic Causse Méjean, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a vast selection, with a range of 20 traditional cheeses ranging from semi-pressed to soft varieties: Tommes, Soureliettes, Pérail, Brique, Cardabelle, Titounet, Lactique, Brousse… Each cheese has its own story and unique flavour, and it’s hard to resist the temptation to try them all!

The Maison des Vautours, formerly known as the Belvédère des Vautours, is entirely dedicated to these impressive birds of prey. From the observation deck, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to admire griffon vultures, black vultures, Egyptian vultures and the famous bearded vulture in their natural habitat. To learn more, a fully refurbished museum covering over 1,000 m³ offers a warm welcome.
