The Croix de Gratassac viewpoint is a true, well-preserved gem, offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views. There are two routes to choose from: an easy one suitable for families and a challenging one for the more adventurous! Tackle the various aerial challenges: footbridges, Nepalese bridges, a 70-metre zip line, and climb the rock face. Let the thrills take over! Built at the end of the 16th century, Castanet Castle was occupied by the Isarn family for two centuries. However, during the Revolution, it was sold as national property. Fortunately, in the 1960s, when EDF was building the dam, the château was saved from being submerged thanks to its listing in the inventory of historic monuments. It is open to visitors from 2 pm to 7 pm – every day except Saturdays, which are open only in July and August.

Situated on a plateau overlooking the majestic Chassezac Canyon, La Garde-Guérin has an atmosphere reminiscent of the Scottish countryside. Once a strategic site on the Voie Régordane, linking the Languedoc coast with the Massif Central, the village withstood numerous attacks. Today, you can explore the ruins of this medieval castle – including the terrace at the foot of the tower and the ruins of the Molette de Morangiés residence – then admire its imposing architecture and soak up the atmosphere steeped in history that pervades these surroundings.

The Chassezac Gorges viewpoint offers a spectacular panorama of this canyon with its striking, steep terrain. Nicknamed ‘The Devil’s Lair’, the gorges are particularly fascinating to photograph from the viewpoint, thanks to the perspective they create on the horizon.
