RENCONTRES TERRA NOSTRA : UN LUGAR MAS GRANDE
The Sunday 18 October at 16 a.m00
Join us on 16–17–18 October in Sainte Croix Vallée Française for the next Terra Nostra 2026 festival, focusing on documentary films.
Screening of the film “Un lugar mas grande” by Nicolas Défossé (2026, 115 mins), on Sunday 18 October at 4.00 pm, in the presence of Guillaume Nollet.
In Chiapas, south-east Mexico, a stone’s throw from the Zapatista areas, the residents of the commune of Tila decide to get rid of their police force, their town hall and the politicians who go with them. Quite clearly, they are taking back control of their small town and discovering the joys – and above all the difficulties – of self-government in everyday life. For five years, Nicolas Défossé filmed this perilous experiment. With its direct cinema style, raw realism and deep immersion into the very roots of life, his film knows neither right nor wrong, neither commentary nor explanation, but only the words and actions of these men – and sometimes these women – who are reinventing a life together. And this despite the presence of paramilitaries and government forces in the surrounding area that threaten their community. A film that turns its back on the beaten track to better open up unknown paths for us.
