Join us on 16, 17 and 18 October in Sainte Croix Vallée Française for the next Terra Nostra 2026 festival, focusing on documentary films.
Screening of Claude Baechtold’s film “Riverboom” (2023, 99 mins), Friday 16 October at 6.30 pm.
Far removed from the information superhighway and off-the-shelf reporting, “Riverboom” is a surprising film in which humour and self-deprecation fuel a thrilling adventure – something that is not common in the world of documentary filmmaking. The year is 2002, during a perilous journey through a war-torn Afghanistan. The director, who discovers filmmaking almost by accident, films day by day the inhabitants of a country that reveals itself to us as a place we know nothing about. With an empathetic gaze, simple encounters and a natural narrative flow, Claude Baechtold takes us on a journey and an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
