RENCONTRES TERRA NOSTRA : COMME D'ICI AU POMMIER

Join us on 16–17–18 October in Sainte Croix Vallée Française for the next Terra Nostra 2026 festival, focusing on documentary films.

Screening of the film “Comme d’ici au pommier” by Cyprien Ponson (2026, 102 mins), on Friday 16 October at 9.00 pm, in the presence of the filmmaker.

Now that wars are raging, the media seem to trivialise the horrors and atrocities that war brings. It is as though memory no longer exists. Traumas, wounds and nightmares vanish into a silence that has nothing to do with forgetting. The wound is raw and still there. Cyprien Ponson takes this amnesia as his starting point, making the stories his grandfather—a soldier during the Algerian War—struggled to share with him his own. In doing so, he ‘becomes’ his grandfather, lives on his farm, tends his polluted vegetable plots and gradually sinks into a form of non-life, perpetually teetering on the brink of nothingness. With tremendous rigour and intelligence, his film draws us into this memory, which becomes cries of pain, a perilous defiance that seizes and shakes to the core the silence that threatens us.
