Every winter, voices ring out in the villages and village halls of Lozère: these are the voices of the storytellers at the Contes & Rencontres Festival. This event, organised with passion by the Fédération des Foyers Ruraux de Lozère, brings the region to life with the rhythm of words, stories and human connections.
Come and share in the artists’ world, their imaginations and their accents from near and far.
Through this festival, the whole region comes together to listen, to dream and to share its stories. The Contes & Rencontres Festival brings Lozère to life in the heart of winter.

Contes et rencontres 2026

To mark this 35th anniversary, two highlights will feature in this year’s programme: the opening night, in partnership with the Théâtre de la Genette Verte in Florac, featuring Cécile Morelle’s production *La Trouée – Road Trip Rural*, a truly poetic journey through the rural world; and the closing night, on Saturday 28 February, in partnership with the Ciné-théâtre de Saint-Chély-d’Apcher, featuring Rachid Bouali’s *On n’a pas pris le temps de se dire au revoir*, followed by a storytelling session bringing together several voices from the festival.
