From the former province of Gévaudan to the Cévennes and Mont-Lozère, from the Gorges du Tarn and the Gorges de la Jonte to the Grands Causses and the Aubrac, crossing the Margeride highlands via the Lot Valley, one thing is certain: you’ll be charmed by your stay in Lozère.
4,500 km of signposted trails
Lozère offers a wide range of options to suit all types of walkers: 1,950 km of Grande Randonnée (GR) trails and 500 km of Promenade et Randonnée (PR) trails are managed by the departmental walking committee. Among the famous routes, enthusiasts can try their hand at the Way of St James (GR 65), the Régordane (GR 700) or the Stevenson Trail (GR 70).
GR and PR routes, for all levels
Lozère boasts over 4,500 km of footpaths, including 1,950 km of Grande Randonnée® (GR®) routes and 2,373 km of Promenade et Randonnée (PR) routes. Some famous long-distance routes cross the department, offering a unique opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable adventure as you explore a wide variety of landscapes as you walk:
- The Way of St James (GR®65),
- La Regordane (GR®700),
- Chemin Urbain V (GR®670),
- Stevenson’s Trail (GR®70).
The “Tour du Mont-Lozère” (GR®68), the GRP® “Tour des monts d’Aubrac” and the Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert trail are also among the region’s great classics. The latest addition is the GR®736 Gorges and Tarn Valley route between Villefort and Albi.
