To give you an idea of where the Lozère department is, we like to say it’s situated between Clermont and Montpellier, 3 hours from Toulouse, 3½ hours from Marseille and 3 hours from Lyon, but sometimes that’s a bit vague… So here’s a map to help you find your way. And yes, Lozère is in the south of France.
The natural regions of Lozère
If we mention Aubrac, the Cévennes or the Gorges du Tarn, we’re almost certain you won’t know which department these regions are in. We don’t hold it against you, we promise! You should know that in Lozère, you can explore the Aubrac, the Cévennes, the Gorges du Tarn, the Gorges de la Jonte, the Grands Causses, the Margeride, Mont-Lozère and the Lot Valley. That alone is enough to leave you breathless during a stay here. In the space of just a few kilometres, you can go from a canyon with vertiginous cliffs to high plateaus stretching as far as the eye can see, to impressive granite outcrops, passing through forests that conceal unforgettable viewpoints.
