The Lozère Departmental Council and its Departmental Media Library present the 2026 Documentary Film Month: “Against the Tide”

Editor’s Note
Documentary Film Month is here!

As has been the case every November for several years now, the Lozère Departmental Media Library “Mélinée et Missak Manouchian” and the participating media libraries in the network are taking part in this
national initiative.
From 4 to 29 November 2026, across the whole of Lozère, you’ll have twenty-nine opportunities to watch documentary films for free at twenty-seven venues.
This year, the network’s media libraries and the departmental media library have jointly put together a programme centred on two themes: gender equality and the environment.
Topical subjects, viewed from the perspective of children or adults, which broaden our horizons and prompt reflection. Films that explore these themes through personal stories, bearing witness to struggles for equality, addressing
sexist or sexual violence, highlight the perpetuation of gender stereotypes, fill us with wonder
at encounters with the wild, and show us alternative ways of doing things. And because equality also begins with the programme itself, our selection is gender-balanced, featuring as many female directors
as male directors. And to address the questions we’ve been asking, we’re partnering with the CIDFF (Centre for Information on Women’s and Families’ Rights) in Lozère to extend the screening and facilitate discussion.
These documentary films are aimed at everyone, with free school and family screenings in particular, accessible to children as young as six. To encourage discussion and a friendly atmosphere, the vast majority of media centres will also be offering light refreshments.
This November, come and discover the vitality of documentary cinema and the social issues it raises!

Kind regards,
Laurent SUAU,
President of the Departmental Council
