CROSSING THE MARGERIDE FROM WEST TO EAST

From the gateway to the Department, the "Aire de la Lozère A75" rest area, set off to discover the Margeride region. The roads of this area in the north of the department welcome you and your vehicle with open arms. Following in the footsteps of the Beast of Gévaudan, discover landscapes of plains and beech and spruce forests crisscrossed by numerous rivers. Halfway along your journey, the Bouviers outdoor recreation center is a haven for all types of hiking (on foot, mountain biking, e-biking, dog sledding). In winter, the center transforms into a ski area, offering 30 to 50 km of groomed cross-country ski trails at an altitude of 1400m. This land of great lakes and bison was ranked the number one travel destination by the newspaper "Le Monde" in 2020. So, don't hesitate any longer and head off to the Margeride!

Starting point: Lozère rest area – A75. From Montpellier: 2 hours 20 minutes. From Clermont-Ferrand: 1 hour 25 minutes.
