Somewhere beneath the rooftops of Paris, an elderly lady is waiting for visitors. For many years, she was an ethnologist, specialising in Darfur, a region that has never left her thoughts. The visitors she receives, day after day, do not come all this way just for a cup of tea. What they are seeking is the vital help that only this 90-year-old woman can provide. They are survivors of the genocide that has been afflicting the people of Darfur since 2003. Drawing on her knowledge of Sudan, Marie-José is able to verify their accounts and thus enable them to obtain political asylum in France. During each visit, the elderly lady’s flat becomes the setting for a private exchange of profound truth…
