THE SOWER

This 2016 drama by Marine Francen tells the story of a mountain village where, when Louis Napoleon Bonaparte becomes Napoleon III following the 1851 coup d'état, all the men who participated in the republican uprising in Provence are killed. The women of the village decide that if a man arrives, they will each be his mistress. The film, which the screenplay places in the Hautes-Alpes, was actually shot in Lozère, in the Cévennes mountains, in the heart of the medieval village of La Garde-Guérin, a village currently listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages of France."
