NATURA 2000 SITE – HABITATS: THE HOOF OF VENUS

The Lady’s Slipper Orchid is a rare species at both the European and national levels, which has led to its protection under a national decree. It is a perennial plant measuring between 25 and 60 cm in height, with hairy stems bearing 3 to 5 oval, lance-shaped leaves. The flowers are very large; the sepals and petals are lanceolate and purple in color, while the labellum is yellow, shaped like a slipper, and streaked with purple.
