COMBES DES SOURCES DU TARN

Valleys

in LE PONT-DE-MONTVERT

The Combes des sources du Tarn site is located on the southern slopes of Mont Lozère, west of the Pic Cassini, in the central zone of the Cévennes National Park.
In the depression areas, in contact with the streams and springs, a minimum of 62 wetlands for a total area of almost 13 hectares have been identified. Most of these wetlands are peat bogs. Their presence attests to particular ecological conditions (cold climate and humidity with a positive water balance).
These environments, resulting from the last ice ages, are extremely fragile and sensitive to any disturbance in their hydrological functioning.
