GORGES DU BRAMONT
48000 SAINT-ETIENNE-DU-VALDONNEZ
These deep gorges, on the northwestern slope of Mont-Lozère, were dug by the Bramont creek whose waters are partly underground. The slopes are occupied by woody vegetation based on Scots pine and oak.
On the edge of the stream where the European otter lives, a ripose forest with ash trees, poplars, willows and alders, characteristic of the water's edge, develops.
The cliff areas allow the nesting of the Great Horned Owl whose Lozère population is estimated between 20 and 30 pairs.
The afforestation is favorable to the Circaète Jean-le-Blanc for which the Lozère counts between 120 and 190 couples.
