UNESCO – MOUNT LOZÈRE AND THE GARDE-GUÉRIN PLATEAU

Mont Lozère is an essential granite massif in the Causses and Cévennes region. Its role in the agricultural economy, both past and present, its remarkable architectural features, and its numerous viewpoints make it a prime destination during your stay. This route invites you to discover its eastern side while passing near its highest point, the summit of Finiels (1699m). A round trip to La Garde-Guérin, a fortified village dating back to the 12th century, is added to the loop. This place, well worth the detour, perfectly combines the discovery of our heritage with glimpses of the magnificent landscapes of the Chassezac gorges and Lake Villefort. Note that a short section of the route follows an unpaved road, allowing you to observe some iconic built heritage up close.
