Description

This easy hike offers a chance to explore the Mende State Forest, where open areas alternate with dense, austere stands of trees.
The forest was established by the State on land that had been depleted and leached of nutrients by centuries of intensive sheep farming—practices that had caused deforestation and soil degradation. It is a peaceful, family-friendly walk amidst the Austrian black pine woods of the Causse de Mende.
