Travel back in time and discover the Land of Peyre, one of the eight baronies that once comprised the Gévaudan region. After exploring Marvejols, the royal city of Gévaudan, the route takes you to the Château de la Baume, a testament to the modern era of the Land of Peyre. Further east, head towards the Roc de Peyre and follow a road that crosses the former territory of the Lords of Peyre. On the Roc once stood the Château de Peyre, one of the most beautiful castles in Gévaudan (destroyed in the 16th century). This promontory overlooks the Margeride and Aubrac plateaus. A strategic location for a keep that remained untouched until the arrival, during the Wars of Religion, of Admiral de Joyeuse, who destroyed the fortress.
