Route details
Description
By taking the winding D996 road from Le Rozier to the Château de Roquedols, discover the main heritage sites of the Jonte Gorges. The discreet Jonte, a tributary of the legendary Tarn, rises on the slopes of Mont Aigoual on the border between the Gard and Lozère departments. Further down the valley, between the Causse Méjean and the Causse Noir plateaus, the river has carved its way through the limestone to create 20 kilometers of spectacular gorge scenery. In this unique natural setting, this route will also delight nature lovers.
