CEVENNES AND CALBERTE COUNTRY
Route details
Description
This route invites you to discover the heritage of the Cévennes region. A varied itinerary includes two castles: the ruins of the Château de Saint-Julien-d'Arpaon, a former stronghold of the Lords of Anduze, Barons of Gévaudan; and the "Castrum de Calberte," a medieval building restored since 1980 by a family of enthusiasts. Continue along the N106, the famous road that once connected Nîmes to Vichy, to visit two Protestant churches: the Rouve church, now a memorial to the Camisard War, and the Cassagnas church, renovated a few years ago.
