VÓDEN

Vóden brings together Marguerite Lersteau on the nyckelharpa and David Sévérac on the hurdy-gurdy. For the past ten years, they have shared a common fascination with the traditional music of the Mediterranean basin, the Balkans, Asia Minor, Scandinavia and western France. Their eclectic repertoire, featuring a rich array of instruments, is the result of their diverse geographical, sensory and emotional influences. ‘Polskanitsa’, their debut album, drew on the music of Scandinavia and the Balkans. With their new release
Périphérie, they move away from purely traditional music to interweave their own compositions and reimagined arrangements of melodies from Sweden and Bulgaria with the vibrant rhythms of jazz, rock and folk-trance. Their concert is interwoven with spellbinding vocals, whether solo or in polyphony, and their music, with its dreamlike or electric atmospheres and a multitude of effects, resolutely captures the listener’s heart and body.
