PROJECTION-DÉBAT-DÉGUSTATION : LE CHOCOLAT FAIT-IL FONDRE LA BANQUISE ?
The Monday 05 October at 18 a.m30
Where does chocolate really come from? What goes on behind the scenes in the cocoa supply chain? Is sustainable chocolate possible? How can we enjoy it without feeling guilty?
Born in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, chocolate as we know it has become a highly processed product. Whilst it was already being consumed in its raw form in South America 5,000 years ago, how is the cocoa found in our bars today grown and processed?
Some labels promise ‘sustainable’ chocolate that preserves biodiversity, but how can we ensure that our sweet indulgence doesn’t threaten our planet? Are there ethical supply chains, and can we envisage locally sourced chocolate?
Lionel Berthet, founder of the Croq’ Ethiq’ network, will show you several documentary clips and reveal the dark secrets of industrial chocolate. Joining him is Pascal Humbert, president of the Association for the Promotion of Fertile Trees, who will present solutions for reforesting Africa through agroforestry. To round off the evening, Kadia Gauzy, Lozère’s only artisan chocolatier and coffee roaster, will host a tasting of chocolates sourced from sustainable supply chains.
