The Le Trianon Cinema in Mende presents the opera “DON GIOVANNI”, broadcast live from the Comédie-Française.

Having fallen out of favour with the Queen of Spain, Don Salluste seeks revenge. To this end, he forces his valet, Ruy Blas, to pose as a nobleman in order to get close to the young queen. Secretly in love with her, Ruy Blas agrees. Having risen to a position of power, he puts his intelligence to work for the state and seeks to put an end to corruption. But Salluste’s Machiavellian plan is closing in…

This key work of the repertoire, first performed at the Comédie-Française in 1879, has not been staged there for twenty-five years. It is directed by Julie Duclos, who aims to capture every facet of this Romantic masterpiece: moving from drama to comedy, from the concrete to the lyrical, without ever losing sight of the fact that a man’s life is at stake.
