The Cinéma Le Trianon in Mende presents the play *Les femmes savantes* by the Comédie-Française.

Unlike her sister Armande, Henriette dreams of love and wishes to marry Clitandre. Whilst her father, Chrysale, is in favour of this union, her mother, Philaminte, seeks to impose the pedantic Trissotin upon her because of his supposed erudition in science and the arts…

Emma Dante speaks of the meeting of two worlds: the world of the past, embodied by men in wigs and period costumes, and the modern world, that of emancipated women. Whilst the former, emerging from a trunk of yesteryear, will slip into the world of fiction, dusted off by the servants, the latter will find themselves constrained by ancient conventions, stripping them of their aura of modernity.
