The Le Trianon Cinema in Mende presents Corneille’s opera *Le Cid*.

Chimène, daughter of Don Gomès, and Rodrigue, known as Le Cid, are passionately in love. But a serious feud pits their families against one another, and Rodrigue must avenge the honour of his father, Don Diègue, in an inevitable duel with Chimène’s father… A battle that turns their love story on its head.

Following his productions of *Cyrano de Bergerac*, *Lucrezia Borgia* and *Les Fourberies de Scapin*, Denis Podalydès turns his hand to *Le Cid*, an iconic play of classical French theatre that portrays a cast of characters torn between love and honour.
