The Cinéma Le Trianon in Mende presents the ballet “Notre Dame de Paris”

Synopsis
Drawing on Victor Hugo’s rich and evocative novel, Roland Petit has created a colourful epic that is as theatrical as it is intense. Between Esmeralda, who is in love with Captain Phoebus, Frollo, tormented by his desire, and the hunchback Quasimodo, a tragic tale unfolds before a fickle crowd that swings between joy and cruelty.

Combining a neoclassical style with the spirit of music hall, Roland Petit surrounded himself with the leading creative talents of his era: Maurice Jarre for the music, René Allio for the sets, and Yves Saint Laurent for the costumes, which he wanted to be “as colourful as the stained-glass windows of a cathedral”.
