CINÉ-CLUB MENDOIS : MARCEL LE COQUILLAGE (AVEC SES CHAUSSURES)

United States, 2021, 1 hour 30 minutes, animated film directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, starring Jenny Slate, Rosa Salazar, Thomas Mann and Dean Fleischer Camp.
Marcel is a tiny, curious and enthusiastic shellfish who lives in a rented house with his grandmother Connie, having been separated from the rest of his community.
His daily life is turned upside down when a documentary-maker, Dean, moves into the Airbnb and starts filming him.
The video posted online goes viral, giving Marcel a new chance to find his missing family.
With a blend of humour, tenderness and reflections on loneliness, old age and fame, Marcel discovers the human world whilst conducting an investigation to reunite with his family.
This film, shot in the style of a documentary, was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film in 2023.
