CANARD OR NOT CANARD

A theatrical, funny and irreverent tale that turns difference into a springboard for success.

Very loosely based on Andersen’s *The Ugly Duckling*, *Canard or not canard* is a joyful, cruel and fantastical tale, written by Fabrice Melquiot for four performers from La Bulle Bleue, an inclusive resident theatre company in Montpellier. On stage, a voice narrates the story whilst three male actors and one female actor bring it to life using whatever means are at their disposal: they act, sing, create sound effects, mime and improvise. Like a group of children who know nothing of the rules of theatre, they take every liberty. Blending humour, tenderness and rebellion, the show explores difference, rejection and adoption, but above all the power of play and art in helping one find one’s place. A free-spirited and invigorating form of theatre, where wounds are transformed into wings.
