BLAU – CIE RALBA

In the factory, people sing to keep up the pace, but above all to feel freer.
The voice is the only instrument of the body that is not entirely absorbed by the movements of the machine; it is the only space still available for organic movement.
‘Blau’ is a collective work created from archival testimonies, accounts of workers’ struggles and Occitan polyphonic music.
On stage, a looper, three stools and some string bring to life, through sung and danced loops, a factory setting from a bygone era.
Three figures emerge, dance and give voice to these female workers who live and then fight for a better everyday life.
