THE COLAGNE BRIDGE

Built on three arches, two of which span the Colagne River, this bridge features yellow sandstone masonry very similar to that of the priory and the cellars of the houses built along the riverbank. Its construction may date back to the late 11th/early 12th century and facilitated access to the cultivated fields of the Plateau des Bories, as well as to the Lot Valley and the Causses. Putlog holes, used to support wooden structures intended to house various types of mills and wash houses, are still visible. The use of water for different purposes, initiated by the monks, is evident. Two turning areas still remain. On the village side, on the right bank, two buildings can be seen, oriented perpendicular to the Colagne and very close to the water. Their motive power suggests they were former mills. From the middle of the bridge, the reinforced pier, designed to withstand the current in case of flooding, can be seen. Point of the heritage circuit and Baludik route.
