The village of Saint-Privat-du-Fau owes its fame to the fountain called "Font Basse" located at the bottom of the village. According to local legend, a young girl who came to draw water from this fountain was abducted by the Beast of Gévaudan. The village farms are built as single structures, housing both the living quarters and the large stable. The regularity of the granite courses and the roofs crowned with schist slabs are noteworthy. Typical of the region, the farm entrances are surmounted by a lintel, usually inscribed with the date of construction. The stable porches are massive. Take the time to admire the old woodwork of the village farms. These are beautifully crafted doors with studded frames, dating from the 19th century. The wrought-iron door knockers are very well preserved and particularly interesting.
