SAINT MARTIN CHURCH

The church of Massegros is a relatively recent church, built between 1912 and 1914. Its construction is meticulous: the plan consists of a central nave with two side aisles. The square bell tower is surmounted by a statue of Saint Privat, visible from afar. The exterior of the building features dressed stone window and door surrounds alternating with light-colored plaster. The central vault is pointed, and the side chapels have groin vaults, all covered with orange plaster. The overall effect is elegant and luminous, and numerous stained-glass windows adorn the side bays. Depicting the Virgin Mary, Saint John, Joan of Arc, Saint Margaret, and a wealthy female donor, they contribute to the building's general elegance. This church was built under the impetus of Abbot Casimir Privat and has served as the parish church since the transfer of the parish from Inos in 1912.
