SAINT MAGDALENE CHURCH

Dating from the 12th century, the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Arcomie is built of large granite blocks. It proudly features a single-story bell gable with three openings housing two bells, erected in 1808, as indicated by the date engraved in the stones of the bell tower. The entrance is through a south portal with a pointed arch. Inside, the church has a single nave with a pointed arch. It leads to two side chapels, also with quadripartite pointed arches. Each chapel houses a statue of the Virgin Mary. In the north chapel is an altarpiece depicting a gilded Virgin and Child. These chapels are also notable for being adorned with the only two stained-glass windows in the building. Two statues of Saint Mary Magdalene, holding a monumental cross and trampling a skull, and of Saint Privat, in bishop's robes, are set into the north wall of the church.
