Built in the mid-12th century, the Romanesque church of Saint-Frézal in Chaulhac underwent several transformations and additions over the following centuries. While the 16th century saw the addition of a magnificent portal with a decorated dripstone, the 19th century saw the construction of side chapels and the erection of a four-bay bell gable. Like its neighbors, the church of Chaulhac is built entirely of granite. Inside, Romanesque simplicity prevails, although there is some decoration in the form of capitals sculpted with plant motifs or human figures. At the apse, there is a granite cross depicting the Virgin and Child on the front and Christ on the cross on the back.
