SAINT ANNE CHURCH

Le Buisson is a charming village in the Gévaudan region, built in an amphitheater shape on the slope of a hill bathed by the small Merdaric stream. A feudal castle, belonging to the Peyre barons, lords of the surrounding area, still existed in the 14th century. Near this castle stood the original church of Sainte-Anne, mentioned in 1109 and belonging to the Benedictines of Le Monastier. Demolished during the Wars of Religion, it was rebuilt shortly afterward but collapsed in 1808. The building reconstructed in 1858, reusing materials from the old church, the one we see today, is located slightly higher up, on land commonly called "lou castel" (the Castle in Occitan). It follows a Latin cross plan. From the church square, enjoy a breathtaking view.
