Recoules-de-Fumas is located in the Margeride region, on the edge of the Aubrac plateau. Legend has it that Gargantua drank from the Colagne River here, one foot on the Truc de Montchiroux, the other on the Truc des Cayres. The villages in the commune are renowned for their tranquility and authenticity. Today, Recoules-de-Fumas is one of the most beautiful villages in the Margeride, with its Church of St. Vincent, its small local heritage sites, and its stone houses with their recently renovated slate roofs, which have not forgotten their origins.
