The Cévennes 'bancels' are levelings located at the heart of the Cévennes National Park, registered at UNESCO. Built and arranged by generations of farmers, working on these lands was exhausting. It was a matter of dominating the slopes, sometimes very steep, in order to cultivate vine or olive trees, before the 16th century, then chestnuts and blackberry bushes after this.
