The commune of Laubert was established in 1873. It comprises the village of Gourgons and the Col de la Pierre Plantée pass. An old village with a mountain climate characterized by persistent snow in winter, Laubert boasts many remarkable old buildings, such as this ancient fountain covered with a Philibert-style roof. For a very long time, the village washerwomen came here to do their laundry. Another building catches the eye with its imposing presence in the center of the village. This is the former medieval castle of the town, of which only the keep remains. On this tower, last remodeled in the 18th century, one can still see the corbels that supported the machicolations that once crowned it.
