In Saint-Chély-du-Tarn, the Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption stands out for its understated architecture and its imposing square bell tower, featuring a large opening. Blending discreetly amongst the village houses, it boasts several remarkable features: a five-sided apse adorned with a moulded cornice and a Gothic portal surmounted by a carved stone depicting Adam and Eve on either side of the tree around which the serpent is coiled. Inside, the nave, with its slightly broken barrel vault, is punctuated by blind arches. The chancel also features two arches, whilst the seven-sided apse completes this architectural ensemble with its distinctly rural character.
