Upon arriving in La Canourgue, be sure to look up so you don't miss the Clock Tower, which stands at the entrance to the village when coming from Banassac. You'll also discover the coat of arms of La Canourgue: a gold and a half fleur-de-lis on a blue background, alongside a greyhound, a reminder of the Canilhac family's arms. This tower, originally the town's belfry used to watch the horizon, was likely built on the remains of Saint-Etienne Castle. In the 18th century, it served (and still serves today) as the town clock. Taking the stairs on your left, opposite the restaurant, you'll come directly to the entrance of the tower and the adjacent square. From there, you can begin exploring the village of La Canourgue, wandering through the narrow streets of the old town.
