CHURCH OF THE NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The village of Grandvals boasts a recent but distinctive church. Its facade is covered with gray plaster, while the corners of the walls are constructed of large granite blocks. Rebuilt in the 19th century, the building nevertheless retains its original 13th-century apse. Each opening is adorned with a simple Romanesque arch, such as the south entrance portal, which is surmounted by a square spire. Inside, the nave comprises a central aisle and two side aisles divided into three bays with barrel vaults. Every corner of the church is decorated. The chancel features a semicircular apse and a vaulted ceiling. It houses a remarkable wooden high altar with gilded details. Two statues of Saint Thérèse and Saint Anne are positioned on the south and north sides of the apse.
