CHURCH OF SAINT GERVAIS AND SAINT PROTAIS

Built by the diocesan architect at the end of the 19th century, the Church of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais features a simple architectural style. Its west façade is the most elaborate, incorporating the entrance portal, a triple-arched window, an oculus, a niche containing a polychrome Virgin Mary, and a spire. The interior houses beautiful objects such as the processional banner bearing the images of the church's two patron saints, as well as a painting listed as a Historical Monument: "The Virgin Giving the Rosary to Saint Dominic," painted in 1849 by Laget, an artist from Mende. Open year-round, the church of Chastel-Nouvel is located in the heart of the village's old town.
