CHATEAU ET VILLAGE DE CASTELBOUC

Spectacular and monumental, the castle and village of Castelbouc encourage contemplation. The castle is perched on a spur, and overlooks the troglodytic village carved in the limestone walls.

The legend tells that in 1095, when all the lords and men-at-arms went to the Christ’s Tomb in Palestine, the lord of the castle stayed to ensure the strong position that Castelbouc represents. Following a few feats of arms, he attracted the favours of ladies in the area, and put everything in place to satisfy their desires, to such an extent that he ended up dying from it.
After his death, a billy goat, manliness symbol, appeared above the castle and disappeared in the horizon.

Ancient houses typical of the region, flowered streets and small pebble beach will allow you to enjoy the beauty of this site as well as the coolness of the Tarn.
