The chapel sits on a terrace, offering a splendid panoramic view. When was it founded? No known document can answer this question. However, its foundation is traced back to the origins of Christianity. In the 16th century, after the Protestants had passed through, this sanctuary was in ruins. Its restoration is attributed to a priest, Abbot Pezet, from Soulages (Laguiole canton), who was appointed parish priest of Saint-Bonnet in 1663. By 1637, the chapel had been repaired and reopened for worship. The sanctuary was ruined again during the French Revolution and remained dilapidated until 1822. A Christian, JB Grousset, agreed to become a hermit of Saint Thecla. He begged for alms for two years in the countryside, and in 1824 the site was restored. In 1640, the fountain flowed within the chapel, at the foot of the altar. Later, it was moved outside, sheltered within the walls supporting the garden terrace.
