Situated on the Sauveterre plateau, Champerboux is a village in the Causse region first mentioned in the 12th century as one of the possessions of the monastery of Sainte-Enimie. A stroll through its narrow streets allows you to appreciate the traditional limestone architecture: houses often built without wooden roof frames, stone vaults and heavy slate roofs. Quarried from the Causse, these limestone slabs are cut one by one, then laid in descending order of size, from the base of the roof to the ridge. Their weight and the way they overlap ensure the roof remains secure. Champerboux is also a starting point for exploring the landscapes of the Causse, with the Ferme de Pessades trail and a walk around the megaliths.
