BARRE BRIDGE OVER THE TARNON
A popular spot for swimmers and families, the Barre bridge over the Tarnon River, just a few meters from the edge of Florac, offers a delightful setting for family picnics. Built of limestone and schist, the bridge consists of two arches separated by a cutwater pier, and two lateral refuges that allow pedestrians to take shelter from traffic. Its initial construction may date back to the 12th century; it connects the routes between the eastern slopes of the Causse Méjean plateau and those of the Can de Tardonnenche. These two limestone plateaus are indeed separated at this point by the Tarnon River, a particularly abundant tributary of the Tarn.
