Antrenas was originally a seigneury belonging to the Barons of Peyre until 1435. The town is also known for its legendary dog named "Giant." In 1417, it chased away wolves and protected the flocks. It was said of it that it was "the terror of marauders and scoundrels of every kind for twenty leagues around." From the area surrounding the village, enjoy a magnificent view of the Marvejols valley and the privately owned Château de Crespin.
