CHATEAU ET VILLAGE DE CASTELBOUC - GORGES DU TARN CAUSSES

Hung on the cliffs of Causse, it is a troglodyte village overhung by a magnificent castle in ruins. The castle was demolished in the 16th century because it served as a haven for looters, but its ruins still dominate the village. It is also said that Castelbouc Castle was so named because only goats could climb to the ruins. Legend has it that at the time of the Crusades, the lord of the castle was left alone of his sex, among his subjects.
